Baseball Gloves & Softball Gloves come in several styles including Infield Gloves, Outfield Gloves, Catchers Mitts, and First Base Mitts. Depending on which sport you are playing they vary in size for each position.
How is a glove measured? Fielders gloves and first base mitts are measured by starting at the top of the index finger of the glove down the finger along the inside of the pocket and then out to the heal of the glove. Lay the tape measure across the palm of the glove, so that it folds across and into the indenture, down to the heel of the glove. A catcher's mitt is measured by the circumference.
Infielders typically want a smaller glove to help with a fast transfer while outfielders want a longer glove to help reach while tracking down fly balls.
Baseball Gloves are tailored for male athletes and the glove's pocket is designed to catch a baseball. Youth, Pro Taper, Contour fit or Pedroia Fit baseball gloves are designed for a smaller hand. Baseball Gloves typically range from 11" to 12.75".

Fastpitch Softball Gloves are tailored for the female athlete and the glove's pocket is designed to catch a softball. Most Fastpitch Gloves have an adjustable back to help fit the varying size of hands. Players 10 & under use an 11" softball so they can be sized smaller which players 11 years and older use a 12" softball. Fastpitch Gloves typically range from 11.75" to 13".
