    CAT9 Composite Break-In Guide

The CAT9 Composite is constructed to be meaner, hotter and bolder. Follow this break-in guide to make sure your CAT9 Composite is ready to go come game time.

Although the CAT9 Composite is hot out of the wrapper, most composite baseball bats still require a break-in to reach their optimal in-game performance level. You utilize this break-in period to loosen the resin and composite fibers inside of the barrel so the material can be more responsive upon contact.

Make sure your bat is game-ready by following this 6-step guide.

Composite bats are high-performance products and have a lifespan that is directly related to the number of impacts they receive. We recommend that once your bat has completed the below break-in procedure it is saved for game use only to increase the longevity of its performance.

This procedure should be performed gradually to ensure the bat is broken-in properly. Hitting composite bats at speeds faster than they are designed to withstand can cause premature cracking and damage the bat before reaching its full performance potential.

    1. Hit 50 balls off a tee using about 50% power. Make sure to rotate the bat ¼” between each hit.

    2. Hit 50 balls off a tee using about 75% power. Make sure to rotate the bat ¼” between each hit.

    3. Hit 50 balls from soft toss using about 75% power. Make sure to rotate the bat ¼” between each hit.

    4. Hit 50 balls from soft toss using 100% power. Make sure to rotate the bat ¼” between each hit.

    5. Hit 50 balls off a pitching machine or live pitching using 100% power. The pitching speed should be about 50% of the fastball speed you normally face. Make sure to rotate the bat ¼” between each hit.

    6. Hit 50 balls off a pitching machine or live pitching using 100% power. The pitching speed should be about 75% to 100% of the fastball speed you normally face. Make sure to rotate the bat ¼” between each hit.

After 300 hits, your bat will be prepped and ready for game use. Remember, composite bat lifespans are directly related to how many impacts it receives. We recommend that you save your bat for game use only, once broken-in.

    Introducing the Marucci CAT9

Introducing the CAT9 and CAT9 CONNECT

The CAT9 and CAT9 Connect are the most advanced bats in the Marucci lineup to date. We created a more responsive aluminum microstructure for better feel, more forgiveness and more performance, while maintaining the strength of its predecessor.

Here at Marucci, we are fueled by technology, and we continuously strive to deliver the best products to the best athletes. Since the beginning we have delivered the hardest hitting bats available, and with the CAT9 and CAT9 Connect, we continue that legacy.

Let’s take a deeper look at both the CAT9 and CAT9 Connect.

    CAT9

The CAT9 is the most advanced one-piece aluminum bat on the market. It is a precision balanced, one-piece alloy design with a medium M.O.I. For athletes who favor a mid-balanced metal bat, the CAT9 is the right choice. Both power-hitters and contact-hitters will enjoy the feel and performance of the CAT9.

Designed with a thermally treated AZR alloy for a more responsive and forgiving feel, the balanced one-piece CAT9 features a massive sweet spot that is ready to damage right out of the wrapper. No break in necessary.

The one-piece CAT9 is available in five sizes: BBCOR certified -3 and USSSA certified -5-8-10 and Junior Big Barrel -10.

    CAT9 CONNECT

The CAT9 Connect features a more end-loaded feel for athletes that thrive on driving the ball further. Utilizing the same three-stage thermally treated aluminum process as the CAT9, you can expect our most responsive barrel yet. Athletes who strive to produce power will love the CAT9 Connect.

Further, the CAT9 Connect introduces the first-of-its-kind OLS Connection. This brand-new technology connects the aluminum barrel to the carbon composite handle from the outside in. The previous CAT8 Connect featured our SDX EXT Connection, and with the CAT9, we built advancements to make our two-piece even better for a stiffer feel and smoother swing.

The CAT9 Connect is available in four sizes: BBCOR certified -3 and USSSA certified -5, -8 and -10.

We fabricated a piece of metal into a finely-tuned tool for today’s elite player. Using our proprietary, complex thermal treatments, we created a more responsive aluminum microstructure for better feel, more forgiveness and more performance, while maintaining the strength of its predecessor. On the end-loaded CAT9 Connect, we upgraded to an Outer-Locking System for a stiffer connection, while dismissing virtually all vibrations on contact.

As always, there are no artificial rings, “dead” spots or compromises. It’s not the easy way, it’s the Marucci way. There are no shortcuts or easy routes, and with the CAT9, we crafted excellence.

    The Marucci Story

    We Started in a Workshop

Based in Baton Rouge, Marucci was founded by two former Big Leaguers and their athletic trainer who began handcrafting bats for some of the best players in the game from their garage in 2004. Fast forward to today, that dedication to quality and understanding of players’ needs has turned Marucci into an All-American success story. Today, Marucci is the Number One bat in the Big Leagues.

    The History of Marucci

We started in a workshop with a flawless piece of maple and built our name on consistency and craftsmanship, never putting our seal of approval on a bat that wasn’t perfect. That obsession has made Marucci the No. 1 bat in the Big Leagues. That same commitment to quality and understanding of players’ needs is engineered into every wood bat we produce.

    Player Advisory Board

Here at Marucci, we believe the best players in the game use the best gear in the game. We aim to provide the tools players need to be successful at all levels and have developed a blueprint for ensuring that success.

The Marucci Player Advisory Board was formed to give some of the game’s best players an opportunity to lend their expertise and feedback into designing equipment for other players to excel. Big Leaguers Albert Pujols, Jose Bautista, Chase Utley, David Ortiz, Andrew McCutchen, Anthony Rizzo, Francisco Lindor and Buster Posey invest their time and resources into serving on this advisory board where they inspire, test and approve all Marucci products.

You don’t have to take our word for it, but you might want to take theirs.
